What’s the basis for that basis?
What’s the basis for that basis?
With a larger and “permanent” estate tax exclusion/credit amount, income tax planning will become even more important for our clients in New Mexico. During this presentation, we will be discussing estate planning strategies to minimize income taxes, often without unnecessarily forfeiting asset/creditor protection. Are there ways to have a second adjusted basis at the death of the second spouse? What if the credit shelter trust is already in place and irrevocable? We will be discussing these and other important issues to keep in mind in New Mexico with estates below the taxable amount.
