An Engaging Hour with a Prior IRS Art Appraiser
Robin Bonner will discuss the case review process at the IRS's Art Appraisal Services and key information donors should know before making a donation. If time permits, she will also share examples from actual cases she handled during her tenure at the IRS.
If you have questions for Ms. Bonner she would like to have them about five days prior to the talk so she may prepare answers to them.
Ms. Bonner built a 35 - year career as an artist, gallery director, gallery owner, private dealer and independent appraiser with offices in Washington D.C., and Santa Fe, NM. Over the course of her career, she has appraised billions of dollars worth of late 19th--through 21st-century Modern and Contemporary fine art, including works from the estates of Michael Jackson, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Willem de Kooing.
She retired from Art Appraisal Services (AAS) at the Internal Revenue Service in 2021. There she reviewed appraisers' valuations for charitable contribution, estate and gift tax purposes. She has since established her own independent appraisal firm, Bonner Arts LLC.
She earned her B.A. in Studio Art, magna cum laude with a minor in Art History, from Lake Erie College and also studied at the University of Texas, Austin. She completed a postgraduate certificate in Appraisal Studies with a focus on fine art through the Connoisseurship program at George Washington University.
